Charmadi Ghat: No vehicular movement today

Belthangady: Although the major part of the work of clearing debris from areas on Charmadi Ghat stretch of national highway 73 where landslides were experienced, was completed on Thursday, the ban on vehicular movement along the road will Friday midnight as a precautionary measure, informed the district administration.
Small scale landslides had occurred at over 20 places along the road here and the mud and boulders lying in the way at five locations has been cleared. Close to 30 uprooted trees fell across the road also. Police van and SKSF team of Kakkinje cluster have been patrolling the area as a preemptive measure to prevent accidents. Meanwhile, Tahsildar, Ganapati Shastri, and forest officials along with highway engineers have camped at the spot. With no power supply to Kottigere area of the ghat, the mobile network has fallen and the locals are facing much trouble.
