Charmadi Ghat road sinks near 2nd turn!

Belthangady: The road surface adjacent to the culvert at the second turn on the Charmadi Ghat on the National Highway 73 subsided on Monday.
It is said the increased vehicular movement on the ghat due to the closure of Shiradi Ghat highway is cited as one of the reasons for the sinking.
Currently, there seem to be no issues with vehicle movement. But as a precautionary measure, the hole has been filled with gravel mixed with sand and has been barricaded to warn motorists of the danger.
However, motorists need to be careful as the affected area is near the cliff edge.
