Chennai Police investigating bomb threat to Bhatkal police station visits Dharmasthala

Belthangadi: The Chennai police visited Dharmasthala as part of its probe against an interstate thief who had sent letters threatening bomb blast at Bhatkal and Tamil Nadu’s Pulianthope police stations.

Police had arrested Hanamanta (42), a native of Hospet in connection with the theft of a laptop. During the questioning it was revealed that he had written the threat letters.

The accused had sent the threat letter to Bhatkal station on November 11. The letter which had text in Urdu mentioned that his other target was Chennai police station. A similar letter had been received at Tamil Nadu police station too.

As the letter to Bhatkal station had been mailed from Dharmasthala post office, the police had arrived here to gather further details. The CCTV footage from the area was analysed. Dharmasthala police assured of cooperation in the case.

It is gathered that the accused travelled to other places including Sulya and Subrahmanya in the district.
