Ahmedabad: In a thrilling rain-affected encounter, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious over Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets, clinching the IPL 2023 title. The match was reduced to a 15-over contest, with CSK successfully chasing down a revised target of 171 runs set by the Duckworth Lewis (D/L) method.
After rain disrupted play earlier in the day, fans were treated to a high-intensity clash as the two powerhouse teams battled for supremacy. GT, batting first, put up a challenging total of 214/4 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of an exceptional innings by B Sai Sudharsan, who fell agonizingly short of a century with a brilliant knock of 96 runs.
Chasing the mammoth target, CSK faced a revised target due to rain interruptions.
In a nail-biting finish, CSK reached the target on the last ball with five wickets in hand, sparking jubilant celebrations among the players and fans alike. The victory marked CSK’s 5th IPL title, solidifying their status as one of the most successful franchises in the tournament’s history.
