Chintamani (Chikkaballapur): Following a murderous attack on Agrahara Murali, local City Council member of JDS, a bandh is being observed in Chintamani on Wednesday to condemn the incident.
The city has been under a complete shutdown since morning. Shopkeepers have ceased business and closed their shops in solidarity.
Transport, traffic has come to a complete halt. Roads wore a deserted look.
On October 13, Murali was attacked at Gajanana Circle allegedly by hired goons, leaving him with severe injuries to his head, hands, and feet.
Pro-Dalit and progressive organizations have called for the bandh to denounce the incident, and it has garnered substantial support. The bandh is being observed in a peaceful manner.
Former CM HD Kumaraswamy vehemently condemned the attempt on a JDS member’s life. Former MLA JK Krishnareddy has made serious allegations, implicating the district in-charge minister’s involvement in the attack.
Tight security measures have been implemented in light of the bandh to avert any untoward incidents. Over 150 policemen have been strategically stationed across the city under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Muralidhar of Chintamani Division.
