City Compol flags off Rani Abbakka Force

Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil flagged off the Rani Abbakka Force, an all-women police force, at the City Centre Mall here on Tuesday, April 30.

Led by Inspector Srikala, the Rani Abbakka Women’s Force comprising of 50 women police personnel will be deputed on duty at crowded public places like beaches, malls and religious places and will ensure that women, children do not face any harassment.

It must be noted that the Udupi Police too had launched the Rani Abbakka Force in their Commissionerate recently.

Speaking to media persons, Patil said that often women are reluctant to come forth and inform their problems to male police personnel but they may feel at ease with women police personnel.

DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya, DCP (Crime and Traffic) Laxmi Ganesh were present among others.
