Clashes erupt between students during sports meet, one student injured

Shiralakoppa: Clashes between students of two communities in the town on Monday, August 22, during a sports meet have led to a tense situation.

As per the police sources, students of two communities got down for a fight on a petty issue at the zonal level school sports meet organized at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. At this point in time, the parents of the students too joined the fight. During the fights, a youth from one community was assaulted by youths of another community.

Later, the injured youth was shifted to a nearby hospital.

Taking the stock of the situation, to avoid any untoward incident, the shops are closed.

Meanwhile, the security is beefed up along with police patrolling in the town.
