CM Bommai lambasts at Belagavi ZP CEO for ‘irresponsibility’

Belagavi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai took Zilla Panchayat CEO Darshan H V to task on Tuesday, for the delay in implementation of repair works in the flood-affected areas even after approval.

Addressing the meeting of Zilla Panchayat CEOs through video conferencing, he lambasted Belagavi ZP CEO and said, “Special provision has been made towards 597 development projects. Out of this, only 215 projects have received administrative approval as of March 31, 2022. Although approval has been given, no work has been implemented. This shows your irresponsibility”.

“People affected by floods need a rejuvenation. At this time, you should be on the ground and inspect the work. But it is not happening. It is very unfortunate to see this kind of approach”, he added.

Responding to this, Darshan said, “The delay in work is because of funds being sanctioned only after the completion of work”.

Reacting to this, CM Bommai said, “What is the use of approvals? You should first inspect the work on the ground and then make a project report. Once the work is completed as per the report, only then will I release the funds”.

He also expressed his distress over the development works under Smart City Project not being implemented in time.

Several officials were present during the meeting.
