Congress leader Siddaramaiah visits flood-hit Karwar

Karwar: Karnataka Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah Monday visited the flood-affected areas in Karwar and took stock of the situation.
Landslides have been reported in several places and homes have been destroyed. Since July 22, at least 21,136 people in 128 villages of the Uttara Kannada district have been affected by the floods.
So far, 10 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents and two were reported missing in Karnataka.
Chief Minister Bsavaraj Bommai announced Rs 5 lac compensation for families whose houses were damaged due to landslides and floods across 13 of the 30 districts in the state.
Bommai said, ” Rs 5 lac will be given to each family whose house has been damaged more than 75 percent while Rs 3 lac compensation will be awarded to those houses damaged below 50 percent due to landslides and floods. Besides, we will also release Rs 50,000 for houses that require urgent repair in these flood-affected districts. Provisionally, Rs 10,000 will be paid as advance relief to the affected families.”
