COVID-19: Two from DK test positive, Karnataka records another biggest single-day spike with 196 cases

Bengaluru: Karnataka on Saturday, May 23 reported another highest single-day spike with 196 new cases of Covid-19 including three from Dakshina Kannada, taking the infection tally in the state to 1939, according to data released by the state health department.
The two from Dakshina Kannada who was tested positive today include one Maharashtra returnee and one with Influenza-like illness.
The new cases include at least 30 minors including a four-month-old baby.
A maximum of the new patients is from Yadgiri, Mandya, Chikballapura, Raichur, and Gadag areas.
179 out of 196 cases are those who have returned from other states. Most of them have returned to Karnataka from Maharashtra.
While the rest are from containment zones and contacts of those who tested positive.
So far, there are 1297 active cases, while 598 have been discharged after recovering.
