Covid-19 vaccine may never be developed: World Health Expert

More than 100 vaccines to treat Covid-19 are currently under clinical trials but leading health experts and scientists have warned that there may never be a vaccine for Covid-19. They pointed out that it has happened before in case of HIV and dengue among others

Dr David Nabarro, a professor of global health at Imperial College London and World Health Organization’s Covid-19 special envoy said “We can’t make an absolute assumption that a vaccine will appear at all, or if it does appear, whether it will pass all the tests of efficacy and safety,”

“You have high hopes, and then your hopes are dashed. We’re dealing with biological systems, we’re not dealing with mechanical systems. It really depends so much on how the body reacts,” he added

Also, Nabaro says that the development of vaccines will take a lot of time and the process will be painful and it is best to be prepared and prevent the disease with effective measures and continue with our social activity with the virus in the midst.

However, Several experts are confident that a Covid-19 vaccine will eventually be developed because unlike previous diseases like HIV and malaria, the coronavirus does not mutate rapidly.
