‘Cup Namde’ – Fans thrilled as IPL Trophy goes on display in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: With just a few days to go for the much-awaited edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Star Sports which is the official television rights holder for the tournament, hosted a ‘Tata IPL Trophy Tour’ program in Bengaluru on Sunday, as part of its promotional activities.

The Tata IPL trophy tour has been held in various cities including Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai.  As part of the promotion, the IPL trophy was put on display in select parts of the city from 5 am to 11 pm on Sunday. Cricket fans were thrilled to see the IPL trophy and took selfies with it.

Star Sports has bagged the official television rights for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League( IPL). Star Sports will also be presenting the 16th edition of the IPL in several regional languages including English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, and Malayalam.

Virat Kohli flags off 18K run

Earlier in the day, cricket superstar Virat Kohli flagged off the 18K marathon at the NICE road toll plaza in Veerabhadranagar. Virat Kohli’s fans tried hard to click pictures and selfies with him.

Thousands of people participated in the marathon of different lengths including 18, 10, and 5 km races. Kohli encouraged the runners in Kannada saying “Namaskara Bengaluru, enjoy maadi odu guru.”

IPL Trophy displays attract crowds

The trophy was then displayed at various locations in the city, including in front of the Maiyas restaurant in Jayanagar’s 4th Block and at Forum Nexus Mall in Koramangala. Fans were seen sharing pictures taken with the trophy on social media using the hashtag “#IPLOnStar”.

Star Sports, through its ‘Trophy Tour’, is aiming to give more impetus to the IPL and has received huge appreciation from the public. The tour has been a feast for sports lovers, and the chanting of ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ (the cup is ours) was heard at every venue of the exhibition, particularly at those where the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team was present. The tour has helped generate excitement among fans ahead of the IPL.
