Davanagere: Public prosecutor caught accepting bribes to help accused in POCSO case

Davanagere: A special public prosecutor, who was supposed to get justice for the victims, was caught by the Lokayukta on Sunday morning for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.87 lakh in return for promising to help an accused in a POCSO case.
Special public prosecutor Rekha S Kotegowdar of the POCSO court was caught in the misdeed.
G.T. Madan Kumar of Kittur village in Davanagere taluk was booked under POCSO for sexual offenses against children. Rekha had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakhs to help the accused in the case.
Of this, Rs 1.17 lakh has already been received and the Lokayukta police conducted a raid at her Davanagere residence while receiving a cheque for the remaining Rs 1.87 lakh.
