Deepika dropped from Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra for asking equal pay as Ranveer: Report

Actress Deepika Padukone has been a trailblazer for equal pay in Bollywood. As per the latest reports, Deepika is now out of consideration for Sanjay Leela Bansali’s Baiju Bawra as she asked for an equal remuneration as her husband, Ranveer Singh.

A source was quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “Apparently, Deepika wants the same remuneration as her husband. Not a penny more, not a penny less.”

The report further mentions that Sanjay Leela Bhansali “regretfully turned down her request for pay parity.”

Further adding, “In a way, it works out for the better. Four Ranveer – Deepika films in a row from Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have been excessive, don’t you think?”

The couple had met on the sets of their first Sanjay Leela Bhansali film together, Ram Leela, and later worked in two other hit films — Bajirao Mastaani and Padmaavat — with the filmmaker.

On the work front, Deepika will be starring with Ranveer in Kabir Khan’s ’83,
