Delay in relief disbursal to farmer: Court orders Kalaburagi DC’s car seizure

Kalaburagi: A civil court has ordered to confiscate a car belonging to the Deputy Commissioner over the delay in releasing compensation to a farmer.
Kalappa Methre from Udachana Village lost 33 gunta farmland as it submerged during the Bhima Lift Irrigation Project. In the year 2008, the court had ordered the district administration to pay Methre a compensation of Rs 7.41 lakhs.
Despite the court’s order, DC Yeshwanth V Gurukar had failed to release the compensation amount.
Taking serious cognizance of the matter, the court had ordered the confiscation of his car (regn no. KA 32 G 9990). Acting on the directive, court staff along with the advocate seized the car.
