New Delhi: The special cell of Delhi Police arrested (Popular Front of India) PFI Delhi Unit President Parvez and organizational secretary Iliyas in connection with the Delhi Riots. The arrest was made a day after the Enforcement Directorate registered a case against suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain, an accused in the murder of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma, under the prevention of money laundering act.

Police is now investigating his alleged links with the PFI. Earlier, the police officials had arrested a PFI member named Danish and it is said that he has made shocking revelations regarding the deep involvement of PFI in the protest held against Citizenship Amendment Act.

Danish has been working for PFI since 2018 and is the general secretary of Trilokpuri area in Delhi. Sources claim that Danish has revealed that PFI has provided financial and logistical support to the protesters.

The crime branch of Delhi Police has also arrested Shah Alam who is the brother of Tahir Hussain. Three other people who had given shelter to Shah Alam are also arrested.

Police officials said that FIR has been lodged against Tahir Hussain and other members of PFI for routing of illegal funds to sponsor the communal riots which resulted in the death of 53 people and left 200 injured.

Hussain was sent to seven-day police custody on March 6 in connection with case. The Karkardooma court had earlier rejected the bail plea of the suspended AAP leader.
