Denied admission, 20-year-old differently-abled girl dies of COVID-19 in Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur: In a tragic incident, a differently-abled girl lost her life at a district hospital on a Saturday, August 1, after being denied admission at a hospital.

The 20-year-old, a resident of Gowri Kaluve fell ill on Friday, July 31 after which her parents took her to various hospitals in the district. However, most of them denied admission to her suspecting her to be COVID positive.

Finally, the doctors at KRS hospital advised the family to take the girl to the district hospital for the COVID test, but the girl died minutes after being brought to the hospital.

Following her death, her swab reports came positive for COVID-19 and the body was cremated as per guidelines.
