Discovering the joy of baking: Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services organizes kids cooking camp

Press Release, May 29, 2023, 6:24 PM IST

On a sunny Saturday morning, 29 eager young bakers gathered at the Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services for a day of baking fun. The kids, aged between 8 and 14, were excited to learn how to make their favourite treats – cookies, cupcakes, and pizza – from scratch.

The camp was led by experienced baking instructors who guided the kids through each step of the baking process. The instructors started by teaching the kids about the different ingredients used in baking and how they work together to create delicious treats. The kids were also taught about the importance of measuring ingredients accurately and following recipes carefully.

After a brief introduction, it was time for the kids to get their hands dirty! The first baking project was cookies. The kids worked in pairs to mix the ingredients and shape the dough into cookies. They learned about the different types of cookies and how to decorate them using icing and sprinkles. The cookies were placed in the oven and the kids eagerly waited for them to bake.

While the cookies were baking, the kids learned how to make pizza dough from scratch. They were taught how to knead the dough and roll it out to create the perfect pizza crust. The kids then added tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings of their choice to create their own personal pizzas. The pizzas were placed in the oven and the kids eagerly watched as they baked to perfection.

Finally, it was time for the most anticipated baking project of the day –cupcake! The kids learned how to mix the batter, pour it into cake tins, and bake it in the oven. They also learned how to make frosting and decorate the cake with icing and sprinkles.

After a full day of baking, the kids were thrilled to take home their creations and show off their new baking skills to their friends and family. Many of the kids expressed their excitement to continue baking at home and experiment with new recipes.

Overall, the Kids Cooking Camp at Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services was a huge success. The kids had a blast learning how to bake their favourite treats and the instructors were impressed with the kids’ enthusiasm and willingness to learn. It was a great opportunity for kids to develop their culinary skills and learn about the joys of baking.
