Mangaluru: In accordance to the circular sent by the chief secretary of Karnataka, the Deputy Commissioners of the districts have been instructed to hoist the national flag during the Independence Day celebrations and hence, Dakshina Kannada DC Sasikanth Senthil will be hoisting the national flag at Nehru Maidan on August 15th.
As most of the regions of the state have been affected incessant rains and flooding, the state government has decided to celebrate the Independence Day in a simple way. In his circular to the DCs’, the chief secretary of Karnataka Vijaya Bhaskar has informed that the Independence Day be celebrated in a simple way and the flag be hoisted by the DCs of the respective districts excepting Bengaluru Urban.
Assistant commissioners have been asked to hoist the flag in the sub-divisional centres while the tahsildars will be hoisting the flag in the taluk centres.
Normally, the district in-charge minister is authorized to hoist the national flag during the Independence Day celebration but since the cabnet expansion has not yet been done and as only B S Yeddyurappa has sworn as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, the national flag will be hoisted by him at Vidhana Soudha on Aug 15th.
