Bengaluru: Driving under the influence on the night of December 31 will result in a criminal case being registered against the offender stated B R Ravikanthe Gowda, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
The officer further said that arrests will be made and cases will be filed under section 279 (rash or negligent driving endangering human life) of the IPC.
Special drives will be conducted to catch those violating the law, said Gowda while briefing reporters on the preparation being made for new year’s eve.
Many people will be outside to celebrate the beginning of the new year and hence the danger posed by drunken drivers will be much higher, he said.
