Bengaluru: A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) gave clean chit to former minister, K J George, and senior IPS officers, Pranav Mohanty and A M Prasad, in a case relating to the death of the then deputy superintendent of police (DySP), M K Ganapathi, the Congress leaders said that the truth has prevailed
Addressing pressperson on Thursday George said, “I always said I am innocent. Accusation against me was politically motivated.”
He further added, “I am grateful to my party high-command, they stood with me despite many allegations from BJP including by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday had given clean chit to the former minister, K J George, and senior IPS officers, Pranav Mohanty and A M Prasad, in a case relating to the death of the then deputy superintendent of police (DySP), M K Ganapathi.
It may be recalled that after Ganapathi ended his life, the minister had to leave the cabinet.
MK Ganapathi allegedly killed himself in a lodge in Kodagu on July 7, 2016, when he was Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mangaluru. In a video message, he named KJ George, AM Prasad and Pranab Mohanty responsible for his extreme step.
On September 5, the apex court ordered a CBI investigation in the former cop’s suicide.
While hearing the plea of Ganapathi’s father, M K Kushalapp said, “There are certain startling facts in the case. Whether it is murder or suicide, it is required to be investigated in a fair manner”.
Ganapathi’s wife Pavana and son Nehal had distanced themselves from the case since then. BUt Kushalapp had moved the apex court challenging the order of the Karnataka High Court, which rejected his plea for CBI probe into the death case.
The Karnataka government opposed the plea in the Supreme Court and submitted that a thorough and in-depth probe had been conducted in the case.
