Puttur: Last year, International company, Shell along with Bengaluru’s Learning link foundation had organised a National Science conference, NXplorer.

Students of Sri Ramakrishna school, Puttur, Prakhyat and Pranav had participated in the competition and presented a project report on Biofuel from Jackfruit waste. They won the competition and were eligible to attend the International conference.

Now, the students have been praised for their efforts in the International science conference. This is the only project report selected from India out of a total of 6 projects selected from 20 countries of the world.

Shell’s NXplorers is an innovative educational programme that introduced young people to the complex and creative thinking needed to bring about positive change.

8th and 9th grade students were given a 2-day workshop on various techniques on food, water and energy. It provided the opportunity for students to  participate in district, state and national level competitions. Shri Ramakrishna High School, which provided these opportunities to students, became the only school in India that represented NXplorer science expo.

As due to the pandemic, Shell was unable to hold a national conference, the students’ research paper is published in detail on the Shell Company website. Their classmates Rohan, Nishan and Nishit had collaborated with the students. They were guided by LLF Manager Hana Murugan. Teacher Sangeetha and retired science teacher Vasanthi Kendila also helped the students.
