Elderly man hit, dragged by city bus dies

Mangaluru: A 70-year-old man died on the spot after being hit and dragged by a city bus at Baikampady on National Highway 66 here on Thursday evening.

The deceased identified as Sundar Salian, a resident of Krishnapur was a retired employee of New Mangalore Port Trust where he served as an operator in Marine division.

On Thursday, Salian was waiting at the Baikampady bus stop here when the overspeeding bus hit him, dragging him along before coming to a halt. A critically injured Salian breathed his last on the spot.

Sundar is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru North Traffic Police Station.
