Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced several important financial packages to help the poor people amid the lockdown across the country. Meanwhile, a post is going viral on social media which claims that Jio is offering free recharge of Rs 498 to all its customers.
Many people on WhatsApp have shared a link claiming that by clicking on it, people will get Rs 498 as free recharge.
Although, Jio has introduced new offers and has also involved in creating awareness regarding the virus, it is not offering free internet to all customers.
When a Twitter user tagged Jio’s official Twitter handle and asked for clarification on this issue, they responded saying Jio is not giving free internet to any of its customers.
In response, Jio said “Jio does not send such messages / calls. All the information related to Jio offers are transparently present on your MyJio app or on http://Jio.com. Please pay attention to spam messages and scammers.”
Various links have been attached to these messages and once clicked it asks for people’s number and name. People should beware of such links as they can misuse your personal information.
