If a certain image, circulating on social media is to be believed, fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya had issued a cheque of Rs.35 crore to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The viral image has created a lot of noise with several users claiming that Mallya wrote a cheque of Rs.35 crore to BJP before he fled the country.

However upon close observation one may notice that the cheque is dated November 8, 2016, while Mallya had fled the country on March 2, 2016.

The news as can be understood now is a fake news. Notably, AAP leader Kapil Mishra had displayed a Rs 35 crore cheque allegedly drawn in favour of Aam Aadmi Party, to the press way back in May 2017.

A closer look revealed that the drawee bank in both the cases was Axis Bank and even the account and cheque number mentioned on the cheque doing rounds on the internet now and the one displayed by Mishra are the same. The only difference being that the cheque, displayed by Mishra was undated.

Further the cheque misspelled BJP as Bhartiya Janta Party instead of Bharatiya Janata Party.

According to AltNews, Vijay Mallya’s signature on the cheque is fake and the cheque in question has been issued on behalf of Glamour Steels Private Limited.
