First-of-its-kind: Yakshagana Sahitya Sammelana to be held on Feb 11, 12 in Udupi

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government has decided to organize the first-of-its-kind “Yakshagana Sahitya Sammelana”, a state-level event on February 11 and 12, next year in Udupi.
The decision on this was taken on Monday in a meeting organized by the Department of Kannada and Culture, jointly chaired by State Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar and President, Karnataka Yakshagana Academy, Dr. G L Hegde.
As per the sources, the event will be organized to address the issues faced in the field of Yakshagana, currently, and to sketch a roadmap for the future.
In the meeting, it is decided that an expert in the field be made the president of the event.
Along with seminars, on February 11 and 12, day and night Yakshagana performances including all the styles (tenkuthittu, badaguthittu, etc) will be held.
A special segment will also be organized, in which, people who wish to get a Yakshagana makeover will be given an opportunity.
The event will involve all those elements that are observed in any other lit fests.
During the event, people who have dedicated their lives to the field and the ones who have presented Ph.D. papers will be felicitated.
Various committees including food, stage, welcome, etc, have been decided.
