Belthangady: Chikmagalur, Mudigere, Charmadi and nearby areas have been receiving incessant rains since two days and a s result, uprooted trees lie here and there along Charmadi ghat road as well as there is also collapsed soil.

The fallen trees have been removed. Since four huge boulders have fallen on to the road leading to Alekan falls and Horatti within Banakal police station limits, the traffic was affected along the route, but the debris was cleared on Saturday morning with which the traffic movement returned to normal.

Danger lies in the turn

Although branches are protruding out into the road near the 5th bend along the ghat road, the forest department has failed to chop down the protrusions. Small trees which were uprooted at the 9th bend have been cleared. Due to the rain and uprooting of trees at the 6th and 8th bend has also brought down soil because of which there is no free passage for the rainwater to flow.

Torrential rains were experienced within Mudigere limits on Friday and Saturday and consequently, Charmadi road is covered in a thick fog. If vehicle users do not take care, disaster is inevitable.
