Former K’taka CM late R Gundu Rao’s wife Varalakshimi passes away

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka R Gundu Rao’s wife and Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao’s mother Varalakshimi Gundu Rao passed away on late Tuesday, January 5 night.

It is gathered that she was suffering from COVID related illness. The family sources informed that her funeral service will be held today (Wednesday, January 6)

Varalakshimi Gundu Rao had entered politics in the year 1996 after her husband’s death and contested elections from Bengaluru South Lok Sabha Constituency. But to everyone’s surprise, Ananth Kumar had defeated, the widow of former Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao.

She is survived by three sons, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Mahesh Gundu Rao and Rajesh Gundu Rao.
