Fuel spillage reported after coal-laden lorry overturns near Thumbe

Mangaluru: A coal-laden lorry en route to Ballari overturned on the road near Thumbe here late last night.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The truck was moving towards Ballari from the New Mangaluru port here. The mishap took place after the driver lost of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle.

Vehicular traffic was affected as a result of the accident. Melkar police personnel visited the spot and facilitated traffic movement.

Due to rupture in the fuel tank a lot of diesel had spilled on the road. To avert risk to other vehicles, fire tenders were called to disperse fuel spillage.
