Gold worth Rs 39L seized at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru: A Kasaragod native was apprehended at Mangaluru International Airport for attempting to smuggle gold (24-carat purity) weighing 756 grams on Wednesday, May 18.

The customs officials confiscated the gold, valued at Rs 39,34,980 lac, from the passenger who had arrived from Dubai on an Air India flight.

The customs department on their Twitter handle wrote, “gold, in 4 oval-shaped packets in paste form, was attempted to be smuggled through body concealment.”
