Mangaluru: ‘Janarabali MUDA’ scheme will be launched in September to enable Mangaluru Urban Developmet Authority (MUDA) reach the people on the outskirts of Mangaluru, said District in-charge minister U T Khader on Satuday, August 4th.
Speaking at the at the first MUDA Adalat in Mangaluru, the minister for Urban Development and Housing said that MUDA officials will reach out to the people in the suburbs once in a week and sanction sites on the spot to those building houses on their piece of land.
“To rid the system of single-site approval from the grip of middlemen and to sort out other problems faced by the people for accessing MUDA’s services, the department will introduce ‘Janarabali MUDA’ programme. Every Saturday, MUDA commissioner along with MUDA officials will visit Bajpe, Mulki, Surathkal and Ullal on a rotation where people can file their applications for the services of the Authority. The MUDA will issue single site approval within three days after filing application and fees,” the minister informed.
Muda Adalat is a unique initiative of the Department of Urban Development in the entire state. “We have received 116 applications. Out of the 77 applications we have examined, 40 have been recommended for speedy disposal after sorting out the minor problems,” he added.
The Urban Development Department will hold a MUDA Adalat once every six months to oversee the effectiveness of the “Janarabali MUDA” programme in reaching out to the people. “MUDA has already taken up process automatization. It will take some time to implement effectively,” he said.
