Govt yet to decide on cash coupon scheme at Ration Shops: UT Khader

Hubballi: “The ministry has not yet decided on the scheme which is aimed to distribute cash coupons instead of commodities which are being distributed through ration shops in the state. A meeting with the chief minister will be held to discuss merits and demerits of the proposed plan,” said Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Minister UT Khader in Hubballi speaking to the reporters on Friday.
Speaking to the reporters, the minister said, “high protein based food items like moong, toor and others will be distributed to the BPL card holders in the state from February onwards through ration shops, the minister said.
“Under the new system launched, APL ration cards are being distributed within a time span of 15 days to the beneficiaries. As many as 42, 000 APL ration cards have been distributed so far under the new system and the felicity will also be extended to the BPL cards also,” minister said.
