Gurupur: Two children trapped in debris die

Mangaluru: In a tragic development, the two children who were trapped under debris following a landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall have died.
Safwan (16) and Sahala (10) are the deceased children.
The incident took place at at Banglagudde in Gurupur here. Around four houses have collapsed in the landslide.
NDRF personnel, fire personnel alongwith the locals and police were engaged in the rescue operations and after several hours they managed to bring out the children. But they had passed away by then.
Twenty years ago, the district administration had allotted the land to 14 homeless families to build their houses. It is gathered that these families are now being shifted to a safer spot.
