Hanagal, Sindagi constituencies go to polls today!

Bengaluru: The by-election to politically fraught Sindagi and Hanagal assembly constituencies, will go to the polls today.

Voting will be held from 7 am to 7 pm and 4.38 lakh voters will decide the fate of 19 candidates in the fray in both constituencies. Counting of votes will be held on November 2.

The two constituencies have become a question of prestige for the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress and JD(S).

Sindagi has 6 candidates contesting to woo 2.34 lakh voters. There are 13 candidates in the Hanagal constituency and 2.04 lakh voters.

Out of the 560 polling stations in both constituencies, 99 have been identified as sensitive. As many as 60 micro observers have been appointed.

Chief electoral officer Manoj Kumar Meena said that all preparations have been made for voting in both assembly constituencies. “Arrangements have been made for everyone to visit the polling booth safely and freely for casting their ballot. Security measures have been taken as per requirement,” he said.
