Hassan: Three students injured after dilapidated school roof gives way

Hassan: Three students were injured and hospitalized after peels of applied to the roof of the high school section of the government PU college at Santhepete here partially got separated from the roof and fell.
The incident happened when SSLC examination was in progress. Tenth-standard students, Suhana, Kulsum and Fiza, suffered injuries in the incident. They were treated in the district hospital and all of them are reported to be out of danger.
85 students study in the said college. As the half-yearly exam was in progress, two students were accommodated in each bench. The students said that more students would have suffered if the incident had happened in normal days.
Deputy superintendent of police Udayabhaskar, deputy director of public instruction, Prakash etc visited the school and scrutinized the development. Parents also rushed to the school to ensure that their wards were safe.
MLA, Preetham J Gowda, and deputy director of public instruction, Prakash, visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of the injured students.
Parents and different organizations have urged the government to repair schools which display the symptoms of wear and tear. In cases where the situation is very dangerous, shifting to safer places should be considered, they said, asserting that the need to be extra cautious is very much needed as the future of the children is at stake.
