Heavy rain leaves Vitla-Mangaluru road flooded

Vitla: Heavy rain on Monday, May 16 evening resulted in the flooding of Vitla-Mangaluru road.
Reportedly, the road was recently repaired by private workers who did not provide a proper drainage facility as a result the road was flooded.
Following the floods, the locals blamed the Vitla Town Panchayat for not making adequate arrangements before the rainy seasons.
Meanwhile, District commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada Dr Rajendra K V and Udupi DC, M Kurma Rao on Monday, May 16 informed that heavy rainfall has been forecasted for the next five days in coastal districts.
The district disaster management authority has issued an orange alert on May 17 and 19 in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
A red alert has been sounded on May 18.
