Puttur: The PUC girl students of the Government PU College at Uppinangady have reportedly agreed to follow the uniform code of the college and attend classes.
The girls who had been insisting on wearing hijabs to college have backtracked from their earlier stand. They had been boycotting classes and examinations of the college till Saturday, reports said.
Despite immense pressure, the college administration stood its ground and stuck to the recent verdict of the Karnataka High Court. They clearly stated that the court directive will not be violated and asked students to attend classes in prescribed uniforms.
After persuasion from many quarters, the girls have agreed to attend classes in uniforms, the report quoted Suresh Atramajalu, the working president of the college development and monitoring committee as saying.
