HJV activist murder: four arrested

Puttur: The police have arrested four people on Sep 5th in connection to the brutal murder of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) activist Karthik Suvarna from Sampya on Sep 3rd.

The arrested are identified as Charan (26), his brother Kiran (36) both from Puttur, Preethesh (28) from Ullalbail and Steevan Monteiro from Attavar. While Charan, Kiran and Preethesh were directly accused in the murder, Steevan was arrested for harboring the accused at his house after the crime was committed.

The three accused approached Karthik, who was at the Ganeshotsava function being conducted at Sampya under Puttur rural police station limits and verbally abused him following which he was stabbed by one of them post which, the they escaped in a car.

Although the grievously injured Karthik was rushed to Adarsh hospital of the town for further treatment, the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
