Honda has unveiled its first BS6 two-wheeler in India, which is likely to be the Activa 125. The updated 2019 Activa 125 gets Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) to become a BS6-compliant scooter. It is the first fuel-injected scooter of Honda in India and will go on sale by September 2019.
The all-new Honda Activa 125 BS6 has been developed with 26 new patent applications. Honda also offers its Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology to the new Activa 125 and claims it as ‘optimises energy output by maximising efficient combustion’. The Activa 125 BS6 gets a segment-first side stand indicator with engine inhibitor, which prevents the engine from starting when the side stand is engaged.
The highlight features of the scooter include a new noiseless starter motor, semi-digital instrument cluster displaying the real-time fuel efficiency and distance-to-empty and an idle-start stop system to improve fuel economy on the scooter. Other updated features include a new LED headlight with reflectors, a new tail lamp, chrome inserts on the side panels and an external fuel filler cap.
Mechanically, the 2019 Activa 125 remains the same with the 125cc engine of the current model producing 8.6PS of power and 10.5Nm of torque. The fuel-injected motor is anticipated to offer 10 per cent more fuel efficiency. Honda Activa 125 BS6 gets six colour options viz., Rebel Red Metallic, Black, Heavy Grey Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White and Majestic Brown Metallic.
