Shivamogga: Amid the tense situation prevailing in here, district in-charge minister KS Eshwarappa on Thursday alleged that conspirators from the minority community are trying to start a riot here.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Bajrang Dal worker who was assaulted by four youths, Eshwarappa said that such hooliganism is causing huge loses to businesses here and that the same will not be tolerated.
“There’s a limit to patience. If that limit is crossed then we might have to take the situation in our hands,” he said.
“We have ensured that Hindu youths stay calm in the face of provocations. However, now a senior Bajrang Dal worker has been attacked. Four Muslim hooligans attacked Nagesh in a pre-planned move. Hindu society has tolerated enough. Evil elements in the Muslim society and from outside are trying to disturb the peace in Shivamogga. Our government will not leave the goons responsible for the incident,” he added.
The goons should be reformed and punished by the leaders of that community. If they don’t then the government will do it, he said.
Some say that Muslim youths too were attacked and injured. But it is just reaction to action – hooliganism in return for hooliganism. This incident was planned. Two people have already been arrested in connection with the attack on the three in Gopala. Nagesh was attacked because he was preventing cow slaughter here, he added.
The tehsildar had said that the riot was between two communities. He has no brains. Four people attacked one person, it’s Muslim hooliganism, he should first learn this, Eshwarappa said.
