Hosapete: 7 killed in horrific accident involving 2 autos and a lorry

Vijayanagara: At least seven persons were killed when two autos collided with a lorry near Vaddarahalli bridge in Hosapete taluk of the district on Friday afternoon. Eight people have been injured and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to the police, five women and two men were among the deceased.

Of the two autos involved, one was ferrying people from Gautam Nagar in Kaul Bazar in Bellary to Hosapete to see the Tungabhadra reservoir. There were reportedly 20 people traveling on the open auto.

Some of the injured have been admitted to a government hospital in Hosapete. The two seriously injured have been shifted to VIMS hospital in Bellary.

Hosapete rural police visited the spot.

District in-charge Minister B. Nagendra said that CM Siddaramaiah has ordered to pay an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the deceased, and Rs 50.000 each to those injured in the accident.
