Hubballi: Following the arrest of the accused in the Anjali Ambiger murder case on Thursday, a few startling details have emerged in the case.

The crime took place early on Wednesday morning at Veerapura Voni in Hubballi.

The accused, Girisha Sawant who worked in a bar and restaurant in Mysuru, was in a relationship with Anjali. The couple allegedly got married at a temple just 15 days ago.

It is said that a week before the incident, Anjali had asked Girisha for two thousand rupees. He sent her one thousand rupees through his phone. After this, Anjali had reportedly blocked his number and stopped answering his calls.

It is gathered that Girisha traveled from Mysuru to Hubballi and on Wednesday morning, he fatally stabbed Anjali with a weapon at her house. He then fled to Haveri via the Hubballi New Bus Station and boarded a train to Mysuru. During his journey, he saw a photo of himself on someone’s mobile phone and returned to Mysore, where he stayed in a hotel.

Girisha was later returning to Hubballi from Mysuru. During this trip, he reportedly got into an argument with a female passenger on the train and was allegedly injured while trying to escape from the public.

The Hubballi police, with the help of the railway police, arrested Girisha. He is currently receiving treatment at KIMS. The investigation is ongoing.
