New Delhi: Amid escalating tension between India and China on the LAC, the Indian Air Force has reportedly moved its frontline fighter jets to forward bases and airfields.
The development comes after the violent confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops at Galwan valley on June 15, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred.
Meanwhile, it is gathered that IAF chief RKS Bhadauria undertook a two-day visit to the airbases at Leh and and Srinagar. The unscheduled visit came after a top security review meeting with Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Army chief Gen MM Naravane on Wednesday.
The Sukhoi-30MKI, Mirage 2000 and Jaguar fighter aircraft have been stationed at these airbases from where they can handle any untoward situation in the northern borders. The Apache attack helicopters and Chinook choppers have also been deployed in Ladakh to provide all essential support on ground as against the Chinese military buildup with along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
