Innanje: Property worth Rs 3L gutted after electric scooter catches fire

Kaup: An electric scooter suddenly caught fire at a house in the Kanchinakere area of Innanje village near Shankarapura on Monday evening causing extensive damage.
The incident happened at the house of Joseph Lobo, a resident of Kanchinakaere near Arsikatte. The electric scooter which was parked in the front yard of the house by Joseph’s wife, Neema Lobo, suddenly caught fire.
Though the family members tried to douse the flames, the vehicle was completely burnt down. the fire also spread to farm equipment kept nearby. Unfortunately, seven pet birds kept in a cage nearby were also killed in the mishap.
It is estimated that property worth Rs 3 lakhs was damaged in the incident. According to sources, the electric scooter was bought about a year ago.
A case has been registered at the Kaup police station in this regard.
