Belthangady: Janata Dal (Secular) Arasikere Constituency legislator Shivalinge Gowda on Monday, August 29, visited Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala and offered prayers to Lord Manjunatha.
Later, addressing the media he said, “BJP’s Ravikumar had accused me of making money in the state government’s ragi procurement scheme. I have no clue as to why he made such an allegation against me. To sort it out, I had asked him to come with me to Dhramasthala Temple for ‘aane pramana’. My intention is not to drag the Lord into political fights. It is a belief that he (Lord Manjunatha) will serve justice. I have done it. If Ravikumar wants, he too can do it with consent from Dharmasthala Dharmaadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade. I have yet to discuss this with Dr. Heggade”.
On a clarification of maintaining distance with the JDS party, he said, “Everything was fine for the past 15 years in my constituency. Recently, a lot of confusion has begun. I have maintained a distance from the party for a couple of months now. There is a reason behind it. Infact, I’ve not even discussed my visit to Dharmasthala with the party high command. I contacted the local JDS leaders and arranged for the visit”.
