Mangaluru: In order to boost the concept of river tourism and to create awareness on eco-tourism, Dakshina Kannada district administration and the Tourism Department will organise a river festival as part of Karavali Utsav 2018 at Kuloor, Bangrakuloor, Padakodi and Sultan Bathery on January 12 and 13.

Chairing a preparatory meeting on Friday Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that various committees were formed for the success of the festival.

“The fest would feature watersports, river cruise, floating food stalls on the shores of rivers. He added that safety measures would be taken with the help of local fishermen and divers. Use of plastic will not be allowed at the festival sites,” said Senthil.

Further, he added that since entry of vehicles will not be allowed on the temporary jetties to be set up at the fest venues, people would need to reach the place either by bicycles or by foot.
