Karkala: Fire completely destroys cashew factory

Karkala: A fire that broke out in a cashew factory at Kukundur near here completely engulfed and turned to ashes the entire factory and 2 trucks.

The fire started at midnight on Monday, August 24 at Maruti Industries. Workers sleeping nearby immediately called the owner of the factory and also alerted fire service.

Due to cashew skins and oil being stocked in the factory the fire spread very quickly.

Three fire service personnel arrived at the spot but are still unable to fully extinguish the fire.

Owner of the factory Prakash stated that approximately Rs 1.5 crore was lost in the fire.
