Bengaluru: The state’s Congress unit has held a protest outside Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Thursday against the alleged illegal surveillance on Indian citizens using Israel–made- spyware.
Senior Congress leaders condemned the phone-tapping of Supreme Court judges, senior leaders of the Congress, BJP, as well as journalists and activists. The state Congress has demanded a probe into the spyware row under the monitoring of a Supreme Court Judge.
French non-profit Forbidden Stories and Amnesty International accessed a leaked database of 50,000 phone numbers which were allegedly targeted by private Israeli cybersecurity firm NSO Group’s Pegasus software. These numbers were subsequently shared with 16 media organizations across the world.
