Bengaluru: Karnataka is one of the states in the nation which is confronting intense shortage of doctors in the government hospitals inspite of the state having more than one lakh enrolled doctors, said a report discharged by the Union Health Ministry.

Contrasted with the number of government hospitals, the number of doctors is less. In an average, there is one doctor for every 13,556 patients. This is more than the National doctor-patient ratio (11,082:1) of the nation, the report concerned.

The National Health Report said in the report that contrasted with South Indian states. Atleast, for Karnataka, 80,000 doctors are sufficient for the 6 crore population. However, most of the doctors choose private jobs in spite of government health occupation.

In the state, the circumstance has turned out to be most noticeably bad from recent year. The condition isn’t different in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chattisgarh.
