Bengaluru: Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot accepted Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s resignation on Monday and dissolved the council of ministers headed by him.
The governor has asked him to continue as caretaker CM till the next Chief Minister takes the oath.
Veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa announced his resignation as the chief minister after his government completed two years on Monday, July 26.
“Nobody pressurized me to resign. I was not asked to resign by PM, Amit Shah or party president J P Nadda. I did it on my own so that someone else can take over as Chief Minister after completion of two years of the government,” said Yediyurappa.
Yediyurappa has asked all ministers to cooperate with his successor. He said that ministers appointed after joining BJP from Congress and JDS will not be affected by his resignation.
